Blend 3015
Blend 3015 was an assignment from the Advanced Motion Methods course from the School of Motion. We were tasked to select a music track (if desired) and animate a series of boards created by Lucas Brooking and Gareth O’Brien to celebrate the 500th bi-annual Blend Conference on Mars.
Focus was placed on transitions, syncing to the music, and expressions to switch between the numerous colors.

Boards
Looking at the boards, an eclectic series of colors presented themselves. I decided to use expressions to handle the (otherwise difficult) task of constantly switching between the different colors.

Sketches/Storyboard
Sketching these were a very important part of the process in coming up with the transitions. Note the directional arrows in the sketch below. Each frame has motion that corresponds to its adjacent frames and to the project as a whole. For a push, there's a pull. For a left, there's a right. This type of oscillation helps to establish a rhythm that helps it feel more intentional and harmonious.

Animation Bits
In exploring transitions, match cuts with position, scale, and rotation were primarily used. As for timing, music drove when the scene change would occur.
